BALANCE IS KEY TO ANXIETY-FREE MENTAL HEALTH


I support the theory that there is no shame in seeking help if you are finding it difficult to balance your life. I was reading about one of Australia’s brilliant psychiatrists’ theories on mental health. He simply says there is no need to struggle, just seek help. There is no disgrace in it. Australians are struggling with extended lockdowns and are seeking professional help. That is OK! It is not OK not to seek help! You are not alone! Take a deep breath and feel the relief when you exhale! That one step to seek help gets you motivated and on your way!


Most of us are missing our old lives. People are frightened, on edge, and facing chronic stress. These times are rough! Admit it, and you are half way there! Reaching out is not failure, it is success! If you feel you have no balance, do it before it is too late. Australia wants to keep their population!


I have noted that Ramsay Mental Health is Australia’s largest private provider of mental health care services. They provide in-patient, day and out-patient care. There are the Beyond Blue and Lifeline services. Have you seen Dr Cross on Facebook, his vodcast “The Anxious Shrink?” It’s a winner that will pull you back into balance.


In the meantime, I try and set boundaries for myself; I focus on what I can control and I prioritise tasks. This gives me a sense of well-being! It is essential to take special care of your body. You need to look after your fuel, nutrition, you need to exercise and, of course, you need a good night’s sleep. Try to take each new day as it comes. Do not put too much pressure on yourself. Guess what, we are resilient human beings.


By setting your boundaries, both physically and mentally, as a part of your working and normal life routine at home, you can find balance in your professional and personal life. Let me know how you go.
