A man returned to the U.S.A. from a trip overseas. Not feeling well, he went directly to the hospital from the airport. After a barrage of extensive, expensive tests, he woke up to find himself in a private room.
The bedside phone rang. He picked it up and heard, “This is your doctor. We have discovered that you have
an extremely contagious virus, so we have placed you in total isolation. We’re putting you on a diet of pizzas, pancakes, and pita bread.”
“Will that cure me?” the patient asked hopefully.
The doctor replied, “Well, no, but it’s the only food we can get under your door.”
This might be a joke but consider the consequences of this predicament! My faith, particularly onboard the Death Ship and after, in quarantine in a Perth Hotel with a covid-19 positive, has always made me thank God for his intervention in my life. The Health Authorities still do not understand how I did not catch the covid-19 virus.
I am pleased to hear and read of the appointment of our new Anglican Archbishop, Kanishka Raffel. I have heard excellent reports of this knowledgeable man. His law and arts background came first, before his final decision to switch to Christianity after being bought up in a Buddhist environment. He changed his life path.
Raffel says: “This is a broken and hurting world and the way to healing and hope and forgiveness is new life through coming into a reconciled relationship with God through trust in his son.” I concur, my faith in God was invaluable to me during my covid-19 nightmare.
Sydney needs an Archbishop who understands the deep need of sinful man and who preaches the Gospel of salvation. When he first read the Gospel of St John, he claims to have had a sleepless night, he read and reread the content, waking up a Christian by sunrise the next day.
Raffel is a man of abundant intellect and compassion, I think his appointment is perfect for our times.
A warm welcome to Sydney’s new Archbishop!
