I am a survivor of the Covid-19 times in 2020. I enjoyed a few days onboard the cruise ship before we were put into lockdown. The changes which rapidly occurred took us from being privileged clientele in cabins, to pigs in pens on the ship, were outrageously disappointing. When the quarantine period became mandatory the consequences for us were horrific. For anyone taking medications or in need of a special diet, you were out of luck!
I survived this ordeal with B12 red liquid drops to give me energy. I am not recommending this, and I am not a medical practitioner, but it did help. I kept my energy levels to a certain level. I was unable to eat the pigs stuff dropped with a bang at our pens three times a day.
If you were a non-smoker you had no fresh air, no outdoor exercise. The smokers were privileged passengers because they continued to make purchases onboard the ship. There was no alcohol served to the passengers during this period.
When I arrived in Sydney on 20th April 2020, after two months of hell, I more than ever realised and appreciated what I had at my own residence.
I settled back into a life of trauma and the year flew by as I wrote from factual notes my memoir of challenges and survival tactics. I continued to survive because I masked up, kept my distance, wore gloves when appropriate and held respect for my neighbours and mankind.
Now in 2021 we are told that in perhaps six years the world has a chance of being vaccinated against the virus. Six years is a long haul! This means no travel outside Australia for years.
We all need to be vaccinated and we need to help our neighbours too. We are in the same boat! Apparently to be immunised with any Covid-19 vaccine will benefit you. They say you will not die! You may get mild symptoms, a running nose, cough, who knows, we have to take note of the medical authorities. Definitely make the vaccine your priority! This is not a command, just think about it, note the advantages. You would not want to get this virus, the aftermaths of it are called “long covid!’ Not nice! I have seen it first hand, pitiful!
Remember, this vaccine is not a silver bullet, when you have your vaccine continue to wear your mask where advised, and if you do not feel safe, wear it anyway! The authorities say the same “do not rush out and take your mask off if you are asked to wear it.” Be Covid-safe!
I must re-iterate, my mask and sometimes double mask saved me during the times I was with a covid positive. It was hell on earth, I was frightened, I knew if I caught it, I had a real chance of dying as I have a respiratory weakness.
As a survivor I advise to exercise, to breathe in fresh air, eat nutritional food and hold onto a positive mental attitude. Do not forget social distancing and include frequent hand washing. All these considerations will strongly contribute to your survival.
YES, be COVID-safe!
